Mayer vs Mahut Betting: Leonardo Mayer can upset Nicolas Mahut in Metz on Wednesday
So, what about the tournament in Metz? Well, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Benoit Paire are yet to start their campaigns, so let's take a look at some of the match markets for Wednesday, which is indeed the day on which the tournament really starts. It will also finally start for Nicolas Mahut, the world's number seventy-nine - but, at the odds that are on offer over at Pinnacle, I am actually willing to say that Wednesday will also be the day on which his Metz campaign is going to end.
The thing is, the Frenchman has been playing horrible tennis in recent weeks - and I mean it. The 3-0 loss against Mikhail Youzhny might have not been the end of the world, but the loss against Stefan Seifert looks horrible regardless of your point of view. He will now return to France and should fancy the conditions in Metz, but the truth is that it is hard to fancy his chances of going through to the next round, as he will be up against a very tricky opponent in Leonardo Mayer, the world's number ninety-three.
The Argentinian should be full of confidence ahead of this match after producing two very good performances in the Davis Cup (took a set off Tomas Berdych, defeated Jiri Vesely in straight sets) - and he should definitely like the fact that the condition in Metz shouldn't be too different to the conditions in Prague. As things stand right now, I would therefore even dare to make him the favourite in this particular clash (albeit not by much), which makes these odds look like decent value.
Back Leonardo Mayer to beat Nicolas Mahut for a 2/10 stake at 2.40 with Pinnacle
