Connections of Youmzain are hopeful he can go one better in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes after finishing second to Dylan Thomas in the Ascot feature 12 months ago.
Mick Channon's five-year-old looked as good as ever when winning comfortably at Saint-Cloud last time, reversing Coronation Cup form with Soldier Of Fortune, but he does have to be ridden a certain way to produce his best.
Jockey Richard Hughes said: "He has to be ridden the proper way - there is only one way to ride him. He was brilliant in France last time, but I still think his Arc run last year (when beaten a head by Dylan Thomas) was his best ever - he had some very good horses behind him that day."
He went on: "He did it very easily in France, but he still only won by half a length. That's what I'm up against, he pulls himself up when he hits the front. It's not easy riding him, but hopefully everything pans out.
"He is not that mad about going around horses, he'd much prefer to go through them, even if it's not the quickest way. All you can hope for is a clear run and that the best horse wins on the day - hopefully that will be Youmzain."
