With Paul Scholes out and John O'Shea doubtful, Ryan Giggs is likely to continue as an emergency central midfielder for Manchester United.
If O'Shea is out, Louis Saha could join Ruud van Nistelrooy and Wayne Rooney in a three-pronged attack. Nemanja Vidic could also make his debut.
Rovers striker Paul Dickov will be out for up to six weeks with a dislocated shoulder but Andy Todd is fit again.
David Bentley and Craig Bellamy are available after serving one-game bans.

"It would be great to get to a final," declared van Nistelrooy.
