2.30 R2 No2 King Kohler - Small field but plenty of value here. Shapes as a 2 horse affair for mine between King Kohler and Bella Pavlina. Leant towards the well bred King Kohler on top here as 7/2PP 2nd fav. By Kings Theatre out of a Runnett mare. Won last start over the hurdles at Musswelbrook in January but go on good flat win 3 back when won a 3K Class E Hamilton race by 5l with further good margins through a small field. Shapes as a good form reference for this along with Wolverhampton win 5 back by similar margins at 1st start in the country. Prepared to dismiss the chances of Steely Dan, likely fav by PP markets and put the big query as Bella Pavlina worth saving on. Back both for a result across the race. 1.5% win @ 4.20
2.30 R2 No4 Bella Pavlina - Shapes as the value query runner for mine on win 2 back. Forget failure 3 back when beaten by Moon Shot by 20 lengths. By Sure Blade out of a Telsmoss mare and won well 2 back 0.7*8l over General and Kylkenny with margins indicating the depth of the performance. Good form references from the beaten types in that race will see it right in the mix here. Definitely a value query here and could surprise at the 7/1PP quote. 1.0% win @ 7.20
Nottingham 3.10 R3 No2 Greenwich Meantime - Hard to dismiss the chances of the lightly raced improver Greenwich Meantime here. Superbly bred by Royal Academy out of a Shirley Heights mare and hasn't missed a place in 4 career starts so far. 1st up from a spell here suited despite 2mile test 1st up. Go on good effort at 2nd career start when 1.2l 2nd to Electrique 5K York Class D with a further 6l back to 3rd indicating the depth of the performance. Broke maiden status franking form last start before spelling in moderate 2K race at Newcastle 3.5*0.2l with big margins back through the field. Definitely has the ability to step up here and stake a major claim against these. A few minor queries exist but this is the one to beat and represents good value at 7/2PP. Also represents definite arbing opportunity as will be supported late in betting. Assessing Market
Catterick 3.20 R3 No1 The Persuader - Hard to go past the chances of the lightly raced improver The Persuader here. Comes into this resuming from a spell and is very well bred by Saddler's Wells out of a Secretariat mare and is 9th foal; half-brother to top-class Grade 1 winning 7-9f 2yo, U.S performer Dehere and to Defrere winner of 3 races in U.S, dam very smart individual winning 7 races in U.S, from high class family. Meets relatively average types here with no where near as much upside as this possesses. Put together 3 very good wins on end in April/May of 2003 inc 1st up 14f 3K Nottingham win over Astynax and Delham 1.3*3.7l with big margins back through the field. Franked that form 2nd up when stepping back slightly in trip to 12f to win in 7K company at York defeating Sir Sydney by 7l. 2 starts back won best race of career so far in 32K company at Haydock. Excellent value here at 7/2PP and definitely worth the punt for mine. Also represents definite arbing opportunity as will be supported late in betting. Assessing Market
Nottingham 4.10 R5 No1 Alcazar - Gone with the classy Alcazar here. Does look the one to beat on exposed form and is by Alzao out of a Ela-Mana-Mou mare. Has had injury problems in the past but when right is a top class stayer and should be right for this. Won 1st and 2nd in Class A company last prep in this race and at Ascot last year defeating Darasim and Savannah Bay. Has exposed form lines putting it infront of these and the query that exists is the weight it has to carry today. Definitely worth the punt for mine but at 1/1PP does seem slightly short in the market. 6/4 would be respectable value. Assessing Market

4.50 R6 No1 Woody Valentine - Shapes as a race in 2 between Woody Valentine and Yankeedoodledandy and we will back both of them. Gone with Woody Valentine on top who comes into this resuming from a spell and does look the lightly raced improver and class runner for mine. Well bred by Woodman out of an El Gran Senor mare and is first foal; dam 2yo winner and minor stakes scorer in US, grand-daughter of high-class US filly One Sum. Go on good win 4 back at 3rd career start over 8.5f in 5K Class D company when defeated Taaqah by 1.5l. Very strong form reference for this race today and a repeat will see it hard to hold out. The big query is good AW winner last start Yankeedoodledandy and is worth backing aswell. Woody Valentine on top though and 7/2PP is good value. Assessing Market
4.50 R6 No3 Yankeedoodledandy - This is the big query runner and comes into this in peak fitness now winning 2 of last 3. Well bred by hot young sire Orpen out of a Persian Bold mare and is 8th foal; half-brother to 3 winners abroad, including a useful 2yo in Scandinavia by Roi Danzig; dam 9f 2yo winner in Italy, out of useful 12-14f filly Civility. Go on big win last start when franked recent good form winning 3K Southwell Class E 0.7*10l over Red Lancer and Seigfrieds Night. Good value at 5/1PP 3rd favourite and repeat will see it staking a big claim here. Assessing Market

5.10 R7 No5 Quickstyx - This shapes as a race in tow between Quickstix and Bookmatched. Gone with the lightly raced Quickstyx on top here and does shape as good value at 4/1 PP. Well bred by Nightshift out of a Reference Point mare and is 4th foal, half-sister to several middle-distance winners, notably smart older filly Red Carnation; dam German 12f/13f 4yo winner, half-sister to high-class juvenile Red Camellia - dam of top-class 2yo 2003 Red Bloom; from a good family. Go on only start when displayed plenty of upside and tenacity to win Spinning Dove and Lord At Sea 0.2*4l with further good margins back through the field indicating the depth of the run. No special effort with the time recorded but did beat some decent types and back onto the turf today against average opposition should only improve further here today. The query is Bookmatched but Quickstyx slightly in front as the main pick although value allows to back both here for a result across the race. Assessing Market
5.10 R7 No1 Bookmatched - Lightly raced type having 7th career start and 4th run back this prep at peak of fitness now. Ok breeding for this by Efisio out of a Wolfhound mare and is 1st foal, dam lightly raced maiden at 2-3yrs over 6-7f, half-sister to numerous winners, several at 2, notably fairly useful sprinter Myrmidon and fair 7-8f 2yo winner Duty Time (later useful over 8-12f in Scandinavia) out of a 6f 2yo winner. Go on good win 2 back in strong form race when defeated Hawkit and Wonkey donkey 1.7*8l with further very big margins through the field indicating the depth of the performance. Hawkit came out winning convincingly next start franking the form of the race and prior ran a fair few 2nd's in decent company as well. Bookmatched at 14/1PP is the definite query runner here and worth the punt for a result across the board in this 2 horse race. Assessing Market
