* The highlight of York's May meeting is the Dante Stakes (2.30) with Dunhill Star bidding to get his Derby assault back on track after a reversal at Newmarket last time.

* The William Haggas-trained Chorist showed progressive form last season and attempts to land her second listed prize in the Middleton Stakes at 2.00.

* Artie won a valuable handicap here last year and should improve for his recent reappearance in the opener at 1.30.

BRIGHTON

* In his quest to be champion jockey, Darryll Holland comes here instead of going to York with his best ride possibly Blessed Place in the 4.30.

* Holland also has chances with Its Our Secret in the 2.50 and Flying Spirit (3.20), both for in-form trainer Mark Tompkins.

* Chris Catlin gets the leg up on the Charlie Morlock-trained Aveiro who has two wins and two places from just four starts at this specialist track.

Left-handed Brighton is essentially a sharp track, the pronounced gradients favouring handy types rather than big, long-striding gallopers.
