[color=blue]Betting Companies in Europe unite to form EBA
- The Betting Companies compete online but through the European Betting Association they now speak with a single voice.
EBA, based in Brussels, is an independent, non-profit organization representing some of Europe’s most successful and respected online betting companies.
The overall objective of EBA is to ensure a cross border, competitive market with the same regulations for all betting companies, state or privately run.
The stated objectives of EBA are:
-Establishment of an open market for betting within the EU
-Freedom of establishment without nationalistic or monopolistic barriers
-The right for an operator licensed in one EU country to offer its services in all EU countries.
In order to reach these objectives EBA will initiate a dialogue with a number of bodies such as The European Parliament, The European Commission, national governments, regulatory institutions, consumer organizations and other interested parties.
“The recent Gambelli and Lindman cases in the European Court of Justice show that the European Union allows the freedom of services for the online betting industry. We believe that Europe should take a leading role in developing a competitive and regulated environment in very much the same way as it has for other industries such as telecoms. We have united to form EBA in order to speak with a single voice and make this happen.â€
