"gamebookers suffered on Sunday (Feb 15) a denial of service (DOS) attack causing our website to be temporarily offline for several hours. There was no interference with the integrity of customer data, nor with the site itself but the malicious attack blocked legitimate customer access to the site by bombarding it with a high volume of messages.
An effective Denial of Service attack essentially brings a site''s operations to a halt but normally cannot compromise a web site in any way other than effectively taking it offline for the duration of the attack. Several other bookmakers were already forced offline due to denial of service attacks during recent months.
gamebookers is working with government and law enforcement agencies as well as its ISP, telecommunications suppliers and other online bookmakers to protect its betting sites against any reoccurrence"
