Spurs faced with an injury crisis ahead of Real Madrid Champions League tie
Harry Redknapp says Tottenham’s plans for next week’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid have been thrown into chaos by an injury crisis and a ‘farcical’ fixture list.
Spurs have only two fit centre-halves for the first leg of the quarter-final in the Spanish capital on Tuesday, while Redknapp must first prepare a team for Saturday’s Premier League match at struggling Wigan.
William Gallas is a major doubt for both games after breaking down with a knee injury, while club captain Ledley King needs a second operation on a groin problem that has ended his season. With Jonathan Woodgate and Younes Kaboul both out too, Redknapp must hope Michael Dawson and Sebastien Bassong come through the trip to the DW Stadium unscathed so they are fit to face Real.
‘We started the year with six central defenders and now we have two,’ said the Tottenham boss. ‘It’s a nightmare.’
