MK Dons boss Paul Ince could again be without 10 first-team players as he attempts to name a squad to face Swindon in the Carling Cup.

Extensive injuries and a late bout of illness left Ince in disarray before Saturday's 0-0 draw with Hartlepool which saw eight debutants take the field - four in a makeshift defence - but the Dons held on to take a point.

Forwards Aaron Wilbraham (ankle), Sam Baldock (groin) and Jabo Ibehre (hamstring) all remain sidelined while defenders Danny Swailes (Achilles) and Sean O'Hanlon (knee) are both out for the long term.

Midfielder Peter Leven is a month away from returning from a groin strain while Sol Davis has turned his ankle and Jude Stirling has a groin injury.
Captain Dean Lewington and midfielder Stephen Gleeson both missed the Hartlepool match through illness but Ince is hopeful they may feature.

Youngsters David King and Adam Chicksen could both feature after being on the bench at the weekend while Michael Bridges should start along with Richie Partridge.

Reading, who have nine players away on international duty, will give a debut to defender Matt Mills, who was recently signed from Doncaster.

Noel Hunt may return from a knee injury and goalkeeper Ben Hamer could be handed a debut.

Burton will be without forward Robin Shroot for the game.

Shroot, on loan from Birmingham, is also on international duty after being called into the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad to play Portugal.

Head-to-head

• This is the first time these clubs have met in a competitive match.

Reading

• Reading have not lost their opening match in this competition or been knocked out by a lower-division team since losing to Cambridge in 2002.

• They are without a win in their last 10 home matches.

Burton

• The League new boys are making their first appearance in this competition.

• Burton have lost their last four away games.

MK Dons are still without Aaron Wilbraham (ankle), Sam Baldock (groin) and Jabo Ibehre (hamstring).

Dean Lewington and Stephen Gleeson both missed the game against Hartlepool through illness but could return.

Swindon's Lee Pea****, Kurt Hammonds and Hasney Aljofree are still out and Alan O'Brien (ankle) is a doubt after hobbling off against Gillingham.

Ex-MK Dons player John-Paul McGovern is hoping boss Danny Wilson selects him against his former club.

Head-to-head

• This is the first time these clubs have met in a cup competition.

• Of the eight league matches between them, Swindon have won four and MK Dons two.

MK Dons

• The Dons have made it past the first round of this competition in each of the last three seasons.

• They are yet to lose in the League Cup against a team from the same division.

Swindon

• Swindon have not won a League Cup game since 2004.

• This is their first cup match under ex-MK Dons boss Danny Wilson, who guided Hartlepool past the League Cup first round in each of his three seasons in charge.
