Sustained gamble on Moyes to leave Blues
by Mark Langdon
.
LADBROKES suspended betting on the Premier League sack race market yesterday afternoon after sustained support for David Moyes to be the first top-flight boss to leave his current position.
The Scotsman was cut from 33-1 to 16-1 on Thursday and that was then backed at all rates down to 5-1 before Ladbrokes pulled the plug.
Everton could be seen as a club in crisis. There is uncertainty over a move to a new stadium, they have had a poor pre-season, chief executive Keith Wyness left and Moyes is yet to sign a new contract amid rumours of him not being happy with the lack of funds to invest in players.
Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison said: “Punters have put two and two together and concluded that the dark clouds over Goodison Park mean only one thing – Moyes is off.
“We've pulled it down for the time being but will no doubt go back up when we've had time to catch our breath.â€
