TEAM NEWS
Sheffield Wednesday cannot selected Luke Varney against Derby under the terms of his loan from the Rams.
Varney's absence is likely to mean a recall for Leon Clarke alongside Marcus Tudgay up front, as Jermaine Johnson is struggling with a hamstring problem.
Derby are hoping goalkeeper Stephen Bywater recovers from a back problem in time to play at Hillsborough.
Striker Steven Davies missed the draw against Middlesbrough in midweek with a tight hamstring and remains a doubt.
MATCH PREVIEW
Derby have been a bogey team for Sheffield Wednesday, who badly need to win this game in order to boost their survival bid and drag the Rams closer to the relegation zone.
Wednesday have lost their last five league matches against the Rams, who have not conceded a single goal in the last four meetings between these clubs.
That does not bode well for the Owls, who have failed to score in five of their last seven matches and sit only two places above the bottom three. Derby are two places above them and are also in danger of dropping into League One.
Nigel Clough's side have won only one of their last six games and can ill afford to lose this one. But another victory at Hillsborough - where Derby have won on six of their last seven visits - would be a big step towards ensuring they remain in the Championship.
