Aarhus have been a bonafide moneymaker for me this fall and with odds priced as high as 1.90 at Scandic it is definitely worth a go at pretty high stakes.
In a round of big upsets last weekend Aarhus managed one of the really big surprises in securing a 1-1 draw against champions FCK. A lucky result by all means but it only serves to underline that the appointment of Swedish championship coach Sören Åkeby have brought about a whole new mindset and confidence at Aarhus.
Since the introduction of Åkeby Aarhus is unbeaten with 3 wins in 4 games and now they can actually see the upper half of the league. For this game they will be without suspended striker and topscorer Peter Graulund. Normally this would be a massive blow but I feel it is of minor importance for this game. Sören Åkeby prefers a 4-3-3 system and the absence of Graulund makes the switch a no-brainer since backup striker Morten Rasmussen is a true targetman. With wingers Aubynn and Dladla to put up a fast paced pressure from the sides I see real trouble ahead for Herfà¸lge.
And the state of the world at Herfà¸lge is another point to take into heavy consideration when placing this bet. Overall impression recently is that Herfà¸lge have been a hard fighting team that doesn't give up. However, the wins are hard to come by since they haven't won for six games - or since mid-October. Recent defeats against top teams like Esbjerg (0-2) and Brà¸ndby (1-3) is surely nothing to be ashamed of. But I can't help but seeing this as a tired bunch of parttimers heading tired into the winter break.
Other indicators also work against Herfolge. Ironically one of the bad omens is the fact that former Danish international Allan Nielsen is healthy. He's been out for most of the year but made his comeback against Brà¸ndby - and Herfà¸lge lost. A trend that have followed Herfà¸lge with 5 defeats in the 6 games Allan Nielsen have played. I doubt he's ready for the starting lineup but it seems he's making his teammates worse since they're all expecting Allan Nielsen to do the work while looking passively on.
Furthermore Herfà¸lge will be severely hampered by the loss of creative revelation Morten Avnskjold who went down with injury earlier this week. Without him Herfà¸lge will only have Poul Hübertz to provide the unforseen - and that's far from enough against Aarhus looking to give the home fans a nice christmas present in the last home game this fall
