The return of their captain wasn't enough to lift the Boston Bruins out of their slump. A coaching change also didn't have an immediate effect on the struggling Ottawa Senators.

The Senators will try again to give Dave Cameron his first NHL victory Saturday, but wins have been rare in recent visits to Boston.

The Bruins (15-13-1) got star defenseman Zdeno Chara back in the lineup Thursday for the first time since he tore a knee ligament Oct. 23, but they fell 3-2 to Chicago for their sixth loss in eight games. Chara had the second-most ice time of any Boston skater with 24:11, but the Bruins gave up the game's first three goals and couldn't take advantage of a 34-21 shots advantage.

"If we keep playing the right way, eventually the wins will come," forward Milan Lucic told the team's official website. "When we respect our system and play the right way, it's worked for how many years? It's not like it's stopped working. ... It's the commitment from within to play the right way that's going to get us wins."

David Krejci could also return soon from a lower-body injury that's kept him out since Nov. 18. He has been practicing but his status is unclear for this game.

Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg is expected to avoid a suspension for his hit on Jonathan Toews that sent the Blackhawks captain face-first into the boards.

The team hopes Chara's return can eventually spark a power play which is 1 for 20 in the last 11 games, including 0 for 12 in the past six at home. Boston has failed to score more than two goals in any of those home games.

The Bruins have had no such problems scoring when the Senators have visited Boston recently, outscoring them 17-4 to win the last three meetings there. Ottawa (11-12-5) has lost nine of 11 at TD Garden, including a 4-2 defeat Nov. 1 in the teams' only matchup this season.

Ottawa enters this game having lost six of seven overall and a season-high four in a row on the road. That stretch helped end coach Paul MacLean's tenure with the Senators on Monday, a day after a 4-3 overtime win over Vancouver.

They lost 5-3 to Los Angeles on Thursday in the 56-year-old Cameron's debut as an NHL coach. Ottawa tied that game at 2-all at 1:44 of the third period but gave up two goals in the next 2 1/2 minutes.

"Nobody spoke of it, but we took it upon ourselves to understand you want to get him his first 'W,'" said Bobby Ryan, who scored his first goal in eight games. "He hasn't come into an easy situation but he's done beautifully for the last couple days and run some good practices, and I think there's a lot to build on as a unit going forward."

Like Ryan, Boston's Brad Marchand has five points in his last three contests.

Marchand has four goals and three assists in the last five matchups with Ottawa, and teammate Patrice Bergeron has at least one point in all of those games with two goals and six assists.

The Senators haven't dropped five straight on the road since Jan. 25-Feb. 16, 2013.
